Who do you think should win this year
Nominees:
GM brought in young stars like Forsberg, Fucale, and Shattenkirk, while also adding veteran all-stars in Thorton, Gagne, and Franzen. His team finished 2nd in the East in the regular season.... oh, and he won the Cup.
GM came in and absolutely re-tooled his team. Taking them from a failing organization, to a team that came 1 goal short of winning the stanley cup in overtime. He brought in big all-stars like Bogosian and Scheifele, who will be his teams present and future.
Completely re-tooled his team, and won the president's trophy with them. Got an all-star on the top line in Perry, while having the 2 best D-men in the league in Karlsson and Weber. Also has a brilliant young force with Nichuksin, Monahan, Reinhart, Tarasenko, and Gallagher.
Despite another poor playoff performance, Carolina was the biggest winner in free agency, and tied the Flames in the regular season for the most points, he also added a huge d-man in Byfuglien
The first year champion has a shot at winning it again, falling one game short in the Conference final. He added a great player in backes, and his team looks set for domination in the future
His team was in the top in the west, didn't do much trade wise, but sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make
Restructured his team this year, getting a guy like Green to pair with Subban on the points, and making Galchenyuk his top centerman. Unfortunately the team didn't pan out
A team that looked to be flying into a brick wall before the GM took over, and now they are one of the youngest and most skilled teams in the league. He make some big moves at the trade deadline, adding Hartnell, Koivu and White, while keeping his young all-stars in Ellis, Barkov, Barbashev, and Carey. Made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs
Added a guy like McDavid to his roster last year, went from the last place team to falling to the Stanley Cup Champion in the Conference finals. Has one of the best young teams out there with the additions of: Kuznetsov, Grigorenko, and Murphy while also developing his own young prospects in: Strome, Reinhart, Niederreiter, and De Haan
With a bad season, he did some good things to his team, adding great young prospects for a bright future to fill the gaps that he has.
Once again, his team was a playoff force, beating the Eastern Conference Champion in 4 games. He was able to steal Dereck Roy to secure a solid second line centerman, while also filling the gaps that he had on the 2nd line wingers
Arguably, would've been the team to beat, and would've likely won the cup if it weren't for an insane amount of injuries. He was lighting it up in the playoffs until Luongo, Staal, and Kessel all got injured, his 3 best players. His team allowed the least amount of goals against it, and he was able to solidify the team with the strongest depth in the league.
Was able to get younger this season and added a top young goalie in Bobrovski. He was in a bit of a rebuild as well, adding top young prospects like Johansen and Turris, who will take over as the 1st and 2nd line center when the Sedin's move on.
Didn't do much for trading this season, but was able to add the 2nd best defensive scorer in Meszaros and was also able to solve their 2nd line C problem in getting Eller, Ovechkin also won the Rocket Richards
Added some older player to their roster, but it seemed to pay off as they battled hard to nearly win the Eastern Conference.
